This Halloween "boo" card features my Ghost that was made using the Two-Step Owl Punch.  Yes, the Two-Step Owl Punch.  I punched the owl out on Shimmery White paper, cut off his feet (sorry about that!), and turned him upside down.  Isn't he cute!

Welcome to my MDS Monday.  Stampin' Up!'s version of digital scrapbooking is called My Digital Studio or MDS.  Since the kids are already talking about Halloween costumes and parties, I thought I would share a cute and not scary Halloween card. 

All of the cardstock that I used (Orchid Opulence, Pumpkin Pie, and Wild Wasabi), the Pumpkin Pie ribbon, the Pumpkin Pie knot, the Scallop Edge punch, and the white brads are all included with the MDS software.  My favorite part of this card is the "Faux" White Gel Pen accents.

These accents are white brads sized down to 20 pixels x 20 pixels and added on top of the Orchid Opulence scallop edge.  When you are placing the brads on the scallop edge, be sure and check the bottom left corner of the MDS software for the y axis reading.  You want all of the brads to have the same y axis reading, so they will all be in a horizontal row.  Another option is to turn the "page grid on" in the top menu buttons to assist in lining up the brads.

The Pumpkin Patch Stamp Brush Set (Item #118122 for $5.95) is an add-on available for download.  This set can be used throughout the Halloween and Thanksgiving seasons for making cards, scrapbook pages, invitations, and menu displays.

The Pumpkin Patch Stamp Brush Set can be used with any digital scrapbooking program.  You can purchase it online, and then download it to your own computer for your own use over and over again.

I'm sure that Robin would even enjoy these chocolate pieces.  They are so cute, that I had to keep the family away while taking the pictures.  Every time I turned away, one was missing!

I used the Bitty Bat Punch (Item #119279), Basic Black cardstock, and the Signo White Gel pen.  The punched image is larger than I expected with a wingspan of 1.75".

The chocolate is a Hershey's nugget.  I wrapped each nugget with Post-it Label tape and added a small glue dot at the bottom.  I found this tape at Office Depot for ~$5, and it was much cheaper than fluorescent address labels.

I cut the tape into 3" pieces and wrapped it around the nuggets.  The bitty bats are attached to the nugget with a Stampin' Dimensional to raise them up a bit.

First, cut a piece of Night & Day designer series paper (here black with white polka dots) 4 inches by 12.  Then score at the 5" and 7" mark and fold (making a triangle-type of shape).  Since this is designer series paper and thinner than the regular cardstock, I also cut a piece of 2×4 piece of Bermuda Bay paper at the bottom for better support.

For the front panel, I stamped the haunted house image and tree branches in Basic Black ink then used sponges to color "the sky" with Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay.  Then matted the paper on a piece of Bermuda Bay paper. Then sponged the corners of the Bermuda Bay paper with black in as well. Adhere the front panel to the bag front using SNAIL Adhesive.

Fill a small cello bag with Kisses or desired candy or snack.

Lastly, create the desired greeting with black ink, Whisper White and Bermuda Bay cardstock. Then align the greeting, the bag, and the paper and hold close while punching a hole.  You can use the Crop-a-dile to create a large hole or a handheld punch if creating a small hole.  Thread the ribbon through them all and tie a bow.

Other Thoughts:

• Use the Brayer Tool instead of Sponging.
• Use Black Embossing as in the In Color House of Haunts card.
• Use a brad or Build-a-Brad instead of ribbon to hold the bag shut.
• To make the project even simpler, don’t do any sponging, instead stamp the house image in Rich Razzleberry and the greeting in Bermuda Bay (for example). Eliminate all sponging and this project is a cinch, fast, and can be duplicated quickly to prepare many treat bags for your upcoming Halloween visitors.

The Stampin’ Up! products used in this project:

• Crushed Curry and Soft Suede cardstock
• Watercolor paper
• Blender Pen
• Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango, and Soft Suede Classic Ink pads
• Soft Suede Polka Dot Grosgain ribbon
• Tearing Tool
• SNAIL Adhesive
• Paper Snips

Instructions

1. Cut standard card from Crushed Curry. Horizontal layout.
2. Stamp leaves along the bottom of the page and then color them using a blender pen and the Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango and Soft Suede inks.  With the stamp pad closed, squeeze the lid and bottom (this put ink on the top of the ink pad – shown below). Then dip the blender pen into the small pool of ink to then color the images. Aqua Pens are also another great tool for watercoloring.

   
    

3. Cut a piece of 5-1/4 x 3 Soft Suede and use the Tearing tool to create the ripped edge.
4. Cut the Watercolor paper slightly to 5 x 3 and also tear (as shown below in step 7).
5. To create the watercolored pumpkins, we will use masking. First stamp a large and small pumpkin on scrap paper. Then cut them out.

   
    

6. On the Watercolor paper, stamp 2 smaller pumpkins in desired locations.  Then place the small cut-out over the previously stamped pumpkin (to hide it) and then stamp the larger pumpkin (shown below).  Notice, the larger pumpkin now appears behind the smaller one.

   
    

7. Then color pumpkins and the rest of the front panel with the inks and blender pen (as you did previously for the leaves).

   
    

8. Adhere the Watercolor paper to the Soft Suede.
9. Adhere the panel to the front of the card (without putting adhesive along the tear, since you will put ribbon underneath it).
10. Wrap a piece of polka dotted ribbon around the card front and adhere to the inside cover as well.
11. Stamp, cut-out, and color a large pumpkin to put on the inside of the card. Then adhere on top of where the ribbon met to hide the seam.

    
     

12. I used a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock for the inside of the card to later write or stamp a holidy greeting.

Other suggestions

• Stamp and color the small pumpkins on scrap. Cut out and then adhere to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give a raised look to them.
• Also would have looked great with Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, More Mustard, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive inks.
• Try sponging with Soft Suede around the main card and Watercolor paper edges.

Isn’t this the cutest treat you have seen for Halloween?  All I used are various punches (scallop circle, 1/2" circle. 1/4" circle, and photo corners) and cardstock scraps (basic black, pumpkin pie, perfect plum, and green galore).  In between the 2 black scallop circles are mint patties.  Super cute and easy!  Thanks to Julie Case for sharing the idea.  Let me know what you think.

1.  For each twisty treat, you need a 6" x 6" piece of Ghostly Greetings Designer Series Paper.  This is a nice size because you can get 4 twisty treats per sheet of paper.

2.  Adhere 3 strips of sticky strip to the reverse side of the paper:

3.  Carefully roll the paper to make a tube starting with the side without sticky strip and adhere using the preattached sticky strip:

4.  Close one end of the container using the preattached sticky strip and insert your treats.

5.  Twist the tube so the top is perpendicular to the bottom and close this end with the preattached sticky strip.

6.  Finish with a flourish by crimping both ends and adding any accents you like.
